Where the code meets the road.

If your a young person or just jumping into technologies as a career choice, don't dispair. One of the side benefits of being in isolation due to the COVID-19 bug is your can concentrate on tech-studies. There are less distractions, assuming you have assets at home and a good Internet connection. So what's a good path the take? What are some valued pursuits?

One thing that is usually taken for granted and is a bit of a bother to do is build a glossary of terms that encompass what it is you are studying. Why do this? We use words to think. If you want to boost your ability to think about tech-terms then you're going to have to remember them and their meaning. But more than that, you need to put these new terms into perspective on what you are learning. There are connotations to most words. Draw diagrams, write down demos. Make sure you build a clear understand based on the connotation that match the facts. The idea is to grab hold of the knowledge as you learn it in notebooks so you will have them on the day you forget a vital fact you need to progress.

This is a good time to backup hard-drives, organize records, or make videos of demo. There are a million videos on YouTube that contain valued information that is equivalent to many college level courses. Build confidence in your skills. Do something you might not have ever done before like build a website. You don't even have to post it to an Internet provider since any browser will display it locally. If you are already a trained individual, make a personal profile website. That will prove valuable when it comes time to get a job.

Take time to build rapport with friends within your discipline. You may even find a group that can come together and form your own company. The near future is going to be a bit tricky for start-ups because the China connection might not be up and running for a while. Think local and find collaborators.

Tech is not going to slow down and you don't want to wait to continue learning and developing skills. Figure out some way to make money during these times, get debt-free if you can. When this pandemic is over, you want to be one the first out of the gate with a plan.
